This was our final day in California Wine Country. Breakfast at 7 am and the same as the previous day. Meet outside the hotel at 8 am to go over the route for the day. It was a short loop of 21 miles and 750 feet of elevation gain. We would be riding alongside the Russian River and then back around Westside Road. We had ridden on Westside Road on Thursday. We are used to riding 18 miles on the Blackstone River bike path so we knew it would be easy. The leaders said we should be back around 10 am and the bags needed to be outside our rooms by 11:45 am. Views of the Russian River.

Right before noon, we met up with the group to walk to our lunch at Longboard Winery right in downtown Healdsburg. There was a gorgeous table set up in the winery for our lunch. The leaders had picked up sandwiches and salads. Of course, there was wine tasting to go with our meal. The owner of the winery explained why he chose the name Longboard for his winery. He had spent many years surfing all over the world before he settled down in Sonoma County in the 1980s. He studied winemaking at different wineries before starting on his own.

After lunch, we walked back to the hotel to wait for our shuttle to the airport. We were the only couple leaving that night. The others would be spending an additional night before heading home. We arrived super early at the airport and found the airport's quiet zone. Nice and relaxing on the lounge chairs separated from the gates. Not many people walked near us. I did not feel the need to sit close to the boarding gate and all the other people. A long flight home.
